The MEDIC NEST project – Precision MEDIcine Clusters integrating Digital Technologies for New EcoSystems in HealthCare, aims to strengthen cluster management excellence and facilitate strategic partnering and exchange between clusters and specialised eco-systems across Europe in the field of precision medicine. It will use a cross-over approach towards digital technologies, through implementing a new “ClusterXchange” scheme by the ESCP-4x MEDIC NEST.
The project started on February 1st , 2022, is funded by COSME, COS-CLUSTER-2020-3-03 European Cluster Excellence Programme and will run for 24 months, until January 31st 2024.
Enhancing excellency of the partnering clusters through capacity building trainings, visits and benchmarking actions towards generating added-value support services supporting the growth and competitiveness of their SME members
Further updating and developing the strategic planning process for 4 partnering clusters in line with the goals of precision medicine, including a comprehensive portfolio of new services, a Partnership Agreement for the Meta Cluster on Precision Medicine, a European Meta-cluster Strategy in Precision Medicine, a Joint Action Plan for Precision Cancer Medicine 2022-2027, including a projects portfolio, in order to strategically support the European precision medicine ecosystem
Developing and implementing ClusterXchange scheme through the Partnership MEDIC NEST Meta Cluster in Precision Medicine
Broadening the cluster value chain in order to create added value, enhance the collaboration with local and regional public authorities and build partnerships in the field of precision medicine with a trans-sectorial focus on digital health solutions
Communicating and raising awareness of the Meta-Cluster in precision medicine towards stakeholders through a mix of media channels tools, awareness raising events and one Final Conference for dissemination and enlargement of the MEDIC NEST Meta Cluster for Precision Medicine.
IMAGO-MOL Cluster is coordinating the MEDIC NEST project, in consortium with Medvia (Belgium), Hellenic BioCluster (Greece) and BIOTECYL Health Cluster of Castilla y León (Spain).
The consortium is implementing the ClusterXchange scheme, through the Partnership MEDIC NEST Meta Cluster in Precision Medicine, looking forward to support 80 exchanges in the fields of medtech, digital technologies, biotech, pharma and medical imaging (structural & functional).
ClusterXchange is a new pilot scheme to support short-term exchanges to better connect Europe’s industrial ecosystems.
It facilitates transnational cooperation, peer learning, networking and innovation uptake between actors of different industrial clusters. It is implemented with support from cluster organisations that have teamed up in the European Cluster Partnerships | Excellence, which are transnational cluster partnerships selected under the European Cluster Excellence Programme as part of the European Commission’s COSME programme Medic Nest is a transnational cluster partnership / a consortium of 4 clusters (Imago-Mol Cluster, Medvia, Hellenic BioCluster, Biotecyl), which has been selected under the ECEP in 2022.
An exchange in ClusterXchange (CXC) is a trip abroad by a visiting organization to a host organization to explore collaboration and opportunities.
Exchanges can be used to:
Learn from actors in another cluster
Explore growth opportunities in new markets
Adopt new technologies, digitalisation and green low-carbon solutions
Invest in strategic interregional collaboration
Activities during an exchange
The nature of each exchange exercise may follow different specific objectives within a broader approach aiming at the consolidation and/or the creation of new value chains across Europe.
The types of activities visiting and host organisations may carry out during an exchange are:
Individual or grouped capacity building
Sharing of knowledge, experience and information in specific areas
Project development, innovation and research and development
Market research
Networking, identifying new partners and creating business opportunities
SMEs
Research institutes
Technology centers
Accelerators
Scaling Up organisations
Business organisations
SMEs
Research institutes
Technology parks
Public authorities and Universities
